Two thousand years ago a baby was born in Bethlehem. Though of humble birth in an out-of-the-way town, his arrival changed the world. Foretold by prophets, viewed in wonder by his parents, feared by kings, slandered by some religious leaders and secretly admired by others, Jesus came.

Here, two thousand years later, it’s easy to remember that Christmas is the time to get a great price on a television, or to enjoy a favorite seasonal coffee-drink. It’s can be harder to peer through history and remember a baby in a stable, and then to remember that the plan is still being played out.

But behind all of the shopping mall noise is an eternal reality. The thrill of our creator and savior come to earth. It is appropriate that every year on Christmas Day we still celebrate this coming by closing our shops and opening our homes. Let’s open our hearts too. Wise men still seek.

The songs on this short album capture the longing, hope and joy of the season, in every aspect from the plaintive cry of O Come, O Come, Emmanuel to the lullaby Silent Night to the promise that I’ll Be Home For Christmas (if only in my dreams).

My piano background is as an improvisor and I offer these thoughtful meanderings as harmonies and melodies that I hope will bring joy to your holiday celebrations.
