September Jazz Newsletter

I’m calling this month “Travinia Tuesdays” because that’s the only consistency in a highly varied schedule. So begin your month’s jazz plan by picking a Tuesday to come see me and bassist Kevin Johnson. Drummer Dominic Cardinal comes out for the last set each night, so if you’re a fan of trio jazz come out in the second half of the evening. If you’re really lucky, you’ll catch Richie Conn on sax—he occasionally graces our final set with his tenor goodness.

I’ll divide up the rest of the month by geography:

For those Western Loudoun County people, I’ll be at C'est Bon by Savoir Fare in Round Hill, VA tonight with vocalist Ariana Harbin. There are still a few tables available so call for reservations now.

Also in Loudoun are a couple of “solo piano in the lobby at a resort” gigs. Lansdowne Resort outside of Leesburg is on Saturday the 7th, and Salamander Middleburg at the end of the month on Saturday the 28th.

Fairfax, I’ve got you covered with a piano duo gig on September 18 at Parc de Ville with Bobby Jasinski. I’ve never played with Bobby or at Parc de Ville. So if you’re curious about what a pianistic journey of discovery looks like, you should check this one out.

DC folks, I’ve be in your vicinity on a couple of Wednesdays. If you’re near Nats Park, catch Sweet Something at the Thompson Washington DC on either the 11th or the 25th directly after work from 5—7.

Finally, Alexandria friends. We continue to work on building the jazz scene at Il Porto’s in old town. Catch the Sweet Something trio (vocalist Ariana Harbin, bassist Jeff Cuny, and me) on Thursday, September 26th from 6:30—9:30.
