December Jazz Newsletter
Hi friends,
I hope you had a good Thanksgiving. I’m overwhelmed with gratitude for so many gifts in my life. First of all I’m thankful for my family and you, my friends. I’m grateful for the music we get to make week in and week out. I’m thankful for my students the progress they make every single week. And now my students are out getting gigs! I’m thankful for the continued growth of jazz in Loudoun County and the role the Loudoun Jazz Society has played in that. Thanks to every volunteer, member, board member, jam session attendee, t-shirt wearer, and more. As we head into this Advent season, I’m grateful that Jesus came. In the words of a song I heard on the radio the other day, “honestly, I think we just need Jesus…”
So that’s a lot. And trust me there’s more…but I’m not much of a writer so I’ll leave it here. As we wrap up 2024, I’m so looking forward to 2025—I’ve got some big plans. I’m looking forward to more music. I’m looking forward to our conversations. Thank you.
Saturday, December 7 — Middleburg Library
Catch some holiday piano jazz in Middleburg. As a bonus, it’s Christmas in Middleburg parade day. I’ve got your schedule all prepared. Arrive early to account for crowds and street closures.
11am — Middleburg Hunt parade
noon — holiday piano jazz at Middleburg Library
2pm — Middleburg Community Parade
More on Christmas in Middleburg.
Tuesday, December 17 — Travinia Italian Kitchen in Leesburg
Why is Travinia featured, you ask? Aren’t we there all the time? Well no. Not this month. December is the season of private events and holiday parties so we’ll be booked up elsewhere almost every night.
Can’t make it that night, don’t worry—Travinia still has jazz every Tuesday and Thursday. Visit loudounjazz.org/calendar to see who is playing each night.
Friday, December 20 — Barns of Rose Hill in Berryville
Catch me, Aaron, DK, John and Ariana on December 20 at 7pm as we present our annual holiday show at the Barns of Rose Hill. We’ll play holiday tunes as well as some jazz standards. Other years have sold out, so get your tickets now.
Tuesday, December 31 — Riggs Washington DC
From the Riggs website: Ring in the New Year in style with the sounds of smooth jazz in a reimagined European Brasserie. Set your resolutions among Corinthian columns as you listen to local jazz group Sweet Something. We'll be serving lobster with smoked butter, and beef tenderloin accompanied by seared foie gras, and plenty of drinks to cheers to 2025. We play from 7:30pm—12:30am. Get tickets here.
Find links for more information on each date in the event list below.
Thanks so much for all of the support. See you on the gig!
